ReFill Packer is a utility program that lets you create your own ReFill sound libraries for use in Reason. ReFills can contain samples, loops and all of Reason's patch and song file formats. The ReFill Packer is a free download for all Reason owners.
ReFill Packer 10.2
With ReFill packer version 10.2 you can now include your own samples for the Grain synthesizer.
Installing ReFill Packer
Windows users: Unzip the downloaded file and run the installer.
Mac users: Open the downloaded file. Drag the "ReFill Packer 10" folder into your Applications folder.
Adding metadata to ReFills
Reason 13 supports metadata for patches and samples contained in ReFills. As a ReFill developer, you can create and export this metadata using Reason 13.1 or later. Here’s how:
- Finalize and build your ReFill with ReFill Packer.
- Open Reason 13.1 (or later), open the Browser, and locate the ReFill.
- Double-click on the ReFill to make it the current location in the browser.
- Right click on any item or subfolder in the view and choose “Edit Info…” to enter the metadata edit view.
- Categorize and Tag the patches and samples in the ReFill using the built-in categories and tags (please note that custom User Tags are not supported).
- When you’re done tagging, click “Save” to commit your changes.
- Click on the “Up” button in the browser to go up one level, then right-click the ReFill itself in the Browser and choose “Export Metadata...“. The resulting .rsmeta file defaults to and should have the same name as your ReFill.
- Add the resulting .rsmeta file in a folder together with your ReFill when distributing it. Please note that Reason will only recognize the .rsmeta file if it’s in the same folder as the ReFill and both files have the same name.
- In the installation instructions or read me file, instruct your customers to place the ReFill and the metadata file in the same folder (recommend the Reason Studios/ReFills folder in the user’s Music folder, as it’s automatically indexed in Reason 13 and up).
