In the "Music > Reason Studios" folder there is a subfolder called Metadata. The Metadata folder contains two files:
- rs_user_device_metadata.json
- rs_user_metadata.dat
These two files contain any user-added categorization, tagging etc. for devices in the Device Palette and for browser content (patches, samples etc.).
You can copy these files to the corresponding "Music > Reason Studios > Metadata" folder on another computer if you like. Note, though, that the content is referred to with folder paths so if you have a custom patch in a user folder on one computer it might not be considered the same patch on another computer (since its folder structure might be different). It should work fine for all Reason, ReFill and Rack Extension content though.
Rack Extensions, ReFills (including the sound banks) and Sound Packs have the same URLs across systems, and that custom metadata can easily be transferred to another computer.
Items in local folders must follow the exact same folder structure on computer A and B in order for data to carry over correctly.
Device metadata is completely portable.
Since we can't merge different data sources, the custom metadata on computer B will be replaced by the metadata copied from computer A.
