We're happy to announce the release of Reason 13.5. Reason 13.5 will also be immediately available in the Reason+ subscription.
Improvements
- Improved support for Intel’s Performance Hybrid Architecture on Windows. See this article for more details
- Browser defaults to Side Panel in new songs (applicable for new users with no stored preference file)
- Speakers/Headphones Output has higher priority as default audio interface than Built-In Microphone in + Speakers/Headphones Output—this is to avoid feedback. This applies to Mac users only.
- Reason icon is now fully compatible with the new look offered in macOS 26 (Tahoe)
Bugs fixed
Browser
- Fixed an issue where the sample browser in some situations didn’t default to open from the last opened location
- Fixed a bug where the browser didn’t properly handle saving/restoring sample slot browser states when cancelling browsing
- Side Panel Browser will now remember any selection and search text when closed/opened
- Special Windows folders (e.g. the Library/Music folder) are now properly handled by the indexer and no longer causes folder scanning to hang
- Fixed an issue where Rack Extension content could disappear from the Browser index when running Reason continuously for more than a week
- Fixed an issue where adding Categories/Tags to Patches on an external HD wouldn't appear in the Browser
- Optimized search for items displayed in the Tree View. The speed increase should be particularly noticeable when browsing folders with many files in sub-folders
- Fixed an issue where the selection was not properly cleared in the browser when in Flat List view and clicking below the item list
- Fixed an issue on Windows where Reason could hang quit while indexing
Rack
- Fixed a bug where song files containing REs with specific stereo routing options (for instance AD 480 Reverb) couldn’t be opened, throwing a “Bad Format” error message
- Fixed a bug where the graphics weren’t redrawn correctly when sub-modules in Kong were emptied or bypassed
- Rack Extensions may now support auto-routing of CV outputs for note/gate, pitch wheel, and mod wheel. This works if such routing targets are defined by the device (CV outputs with specific signal types and auto route option enabled by the developer)
- Fixed a graphics glitch introduced in Reason 13.4 on Windows version that could occur when hovering around the "Browse Patch" button on certain devices
Sequencer
- Fixed an issue where muting/un-muting an audio clip in the Sequencer did not update the waveform color correctly
- Fixed an issue where small horizontal lines appeared around the “M” and “X” buttons in Sequencer tracks
Mixer
- Fixed a graphical issue where deleting the last Mix Channel in the Mixer only partially removed it
- Fixed an issue where graphical glitches appeared between Mix Channels in the Mixer when moving knobs
Misc
- Improved GUI performance when using high-speed/high-rate pointing devices on Windows (e.g. some gaming mice)
- Fixed a bug where dragging the splitters between areas in Reason was lagging on Windows
- Fixed an issue where text was cropped in French and German in the Preferences
Reason Rack Plugin
- Fixed a bug where the Reason Rack Plugin window could turn black when dragging it from an internal screen to an external screen with another resolution
- Clicking “Browse” button in Top bar will now open the browser instead of going into browse focus for a device, regardless of selection. To browse patches for a specific device, click the Browse button on that device
