That's probably because the Background Audio option is on. To have Reason Compact automatically stop any playback when you close the app, set Background Audio to Off.
Tap the Settings button:
Switch off the Background Audio option:

They said close the app, not put it in the background. I have experienced the same thing but I suspect it’s one of the plethora of defects in Apple’s iOS 11.4.1. Once I had to cycle power on my device to stop Reason Compact.
